UTILITY LOCATE COORDINATOR

FULL TIME CONTRACT POSITION (12-18 Months)

Based out of our shop in Stony Plain, AB




Job Summary


 

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Locate Coordinator is responsible for entering and tracking all aspects of utility locating as it pertains to the Construction Division Operations.


 

Key Responsibilities:


 

• Enter utility locate requests through Alberta One-call web service in a timely and accurate manner aligned with construction schedule targets.


• Coordinate with First-call staff, including on-site locating personnel regarding locate requirements, specifics and timing. 


• Enter utility re-locates as required to ensure no lapse in coverage of clearance period.


• Use existing organizational tools to track expiration date, locate and re-locate status, outstanding response, etc.


• Coordinate with Construction Foremen on project specifics, locate status, areas of concern, etc.


• Make site visits as needed to stake work area, meet with locators, consultants and customers to ensure accurate utility locating for all projects.


• Maintain clear and accurate records of all correspondence pertaining to locates so as to ensure proper documentation should issues arise.


• Assisting Shop Foreman with shop duties such as moving vehicles, minor equipment repairs, loading/unloading supplies for projects and general housekeeping.


• Delivery/Pick-up services as needed.


• Other duties as determined by the Construction Superintendent and Shop Foreman.


 

Qualifications

 Education, Training, Diplomas and Certifications

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and current drivers abstract.


• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.




Work Experience


• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience within the construction industry.


• 2 to 3 years’ experience working with utility locates preferred.


 

Technical Skills


• Knowledge of utility locate process.


• Knowledge of road construction processes and industry requirements.


• Proficient with Microsoft software and online utility locate program.

Working Conditions


• Travel as required.


• Overtime as required.


• Use of personal protection equipment is required.


• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy.


• Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.


• Must be able to meet all safety requirements.


• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.


• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.


• Driving long distances unaccompanied.
